Danger Talbert

Dangerfield Talbert rode 2 excellent years (1906 and 1907) to a decade career.

He had decent gap power, but not enough speed to hit many triples with it. His walk rate was all over the place, but ultimately somewhat average across his career, and he struck out a lot, probably reaching the leaderboards in his last few fulltime years.

He really struggled early in his career, and if things broke the wrong way, could have been out of the league after the 1904 season. But if he sticks around, the quality of the following 4 years carries him through the rest of his career.

Talbert was a solid defensive 3B, and could fill in adequately at SS and 2B when needed.

I like this projection of Talbert–there are plenty of examples of players who have 3-4 years far above the rest of their career, centered around age 27 or 28. The only real question for me is if he ever really gets the chance: his 1903 and 1904 are so bad that he may end up capped as a AAAA player.
