Esteban Prats

Esteban Prats wasn’t as good a ballplayer as his brother, Miguel–and Miguel was borderline at best.

In these projections, Esteban is a full time player (ish) for 2 years, in 1900 because he hit unusually well and in 1904 as a reaction to the historical record.

He had an excellent eye for the strike zone, but he couldn’t hit and had zero, and I mean zero, power. As in 25 extra base hits in his career (out of just over 600 base knocks). His defense at 1B was above average and he could steal some bases. That’s really all you have: a few walks, decent leather at 1B, some speed.

Bottom line, Prats is very unlikely to have had much of a MLB career, if any at all.

He does fall into a known weak point of how we project SB–because all of his hits are singles and he has a lot of walks, he has a very high number of SB opportunities; because he was in fact a good baserunner, he ends up with a lot of steals, perhaps too many.
