Alejandro Oms was a dominant, borderline MVP level OF, in the first half of the 1920s. Wrapped around that were quite a few good years, but his career overall likely falls short of the HoF.

He was a fulltime player for most of the 1920s, with an impressive mix of power and strike zone control. He could mash, and was an outside threat to score some black ink (hits a few years, especially 1926; doubles a few years, especially 1925; and triples at least in 1923). He adjusted to a noted drop in speed by adding a lot more power, with 6 years over 20 HRs, and this projection has him ending his career with a SLG just over .500.

He was an excellent defender with spectacular range, albeit a weak arm and he could steal the occasional base (and sometimes, especially early in his career, even more than that).

We added seasons for 1918-1920 and 1934, and those early career years could be revised for sure. I think Oms was a meteor: from 1922 to 1930, there were few better CFs in the game and, if anything, I think his peak may have been even higher. More research is needed into his decline, and I wouldn’t be surprised if 1926 to 1929 were even stronger in future projections.
