One of the truly dominant pitchers of the late NeL, and one of the 2006 inductees into the HoF, Brown was an ace for close to a decade, with really only a single subpar year (1934). He was durable, did not give up many hits, and had excellent control. His strikeout rate was never terribly high, which is perhaps the only possible knock on his work on the mound. Especially in 1938 and 1940, would be in the running for the best starter in the game.
A slightly above average hitter, Brown also saw a fair bit of time in the OF, especially over the second half of his career.
We’ve added a couple of years at the start of his career, which would be borderline in the big leagues, and extended him a few years after 1945, although not as far as some other projections. These years drag down his career rate stats a bit, but don’t be fooled: Brown was an absolute star.
