Ball is an interesting case to project. He was excellent–perhaps even dominant–until his early 1930’s, and then pretty much fell off a cliff, even playing a fair bit of OF towards the end of his career. I don’t think there’s a chance his career extends into his early 40’s (which it did in the NeL), and instead see him out of the league by the time he’s 35, drastically shortening his service time.
But it’s a pretty impressive peak. He’s not a high strikeout pitcher, but had excellent control and ends up projecting as a front of rotation workhorse for 6 or so years.
His projected numbers end up being better than his NeL stats, a rarity that in this case is due to the abbreviated career, with his totals not being dragged down by a long decline.
