Albert Toney

Albert Toney was a borderline MLB player, likely a career utility type, although there are a few years (1908 for sure, maybe a few others) where he would have held down a full time job.

Toney provided some pop offensively, with exceptional power for the era. He struggled to make contact, only hitting above .250 once in our projections. But he both hit a ton of doubles and a decent number of homeruns, especially for the era. He did not draw many walks, and struck out quite a bit, especially over the second half of his career.

He was versatile defensively, playing most of the time at SS or 2B, but also seeing time in the OF. He was not, however, very good with the glove, overall probably a bit below average. Still, not a bad piece to have on the bench.

This set of projections may give Toney too much playing time, especially in 1906, 1908, and 1909. But the skills composition feels correct.
