Nux James is another one of those project testing players. He had a long NeL career, based essentially on being very, very fast and having a decent glove. Problem was, he couldn’t hit a lick, although he could draw a walk here and there.
James would run amok on the basepaths, when he was on the basepaths. Which is fine enough. He also had some pop once in a while, leading to some decent years for triples and the occasional round-tripper.
Solid at 2B and in the corner OF throughout his career, the question is if James would survive as a utility player in an integrated context. The projections here represent the optimistic extreme, where he does indeed continually find a roster spot. But it’s also quite plausible that he tops out at AAA, or is out of the game in 1907 or 1908.
